Open Positions
Store Manager
We are looking for a hands-on working leader who can guide the team, protect our standards, and help the store run smoothly without losing the warmth and personal attention that make The Cedar Chest special.
Key Details
- 30-35 hours per week
- Tuesday through Saturday schedule, Friday and Saturday required
- $19/hour starting rate → $20/hour after 90-day review
- Performance bonuses
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Within 15-20 minutes of Old Saybrook
Ideal Manager Qualities
The ideal manager leads by example and works alongside the team. You will handle intake, register operations, pricing, put-away, cleaning, staging, and customer service. You communicate clearly, coach respectfully, and do not avoid difficult conversations. You do not gossip or play favorites. You use policies and SOPs to keep the store calm and organized, know when to involve the owner, and care deeply about customers, consignors, and your team.
Resale Associate
We are looking for a dependable, year-round team member who is eager to learn, comfortable helping people, and willing to work across the many different parts of a busy consignment store.

- Monday through Thursday primary schedule
- Connecticut minimum wage

- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- No prior experience required
Ideal Associate Qualities
The ideal associate learns quickly, takes correction well, owns mistakes, and asks questions. You communicate clearly and handle busy situations calmly. You have basic computer skills and are willing to learn POS systems, inventory management, research tools, and AI tools. You enjoy working with one-of-a-kind merchandise and want stable year-round employment.
