ABOUT US

The Cedar Chest Consignments

Founded in 1980 in the shoreline town of Clinton, Connecticut, The Cedar Chest began as a humble consignment shop with a bold mission: to connect community, style, and sustainability. What started as a small but beloved storefront quickly became a local treasure—known for its ever-changing selection of fashion, home goods, and vintage charm.

In 2015, we expanded into Old Saybrook, opening our 4,000+ sq. ft. flagship store along the shoreline's bustling Route 1 corridor. Since then, we've grown into more than just a consignment shop—we've become a hub for community connection, creative expression, and sustainable living.

Today, We're Just Getting Started.

Now under passionate new ownership as of January 2025, The Cedar Chest Consignments is entering an exciting new chapter—one rooted in the same values of quality, community, and sustainability, but reimagined for a new generation of consignors and shoppers.

We specialize in carefully curated women's and men's clothing, footwear, furniture, jewelry, art, home décor, and one-of-a-kind finds. Every item tells a story—and when you shop or consign with us, you're helping extend that story in a way that's meaningful, affordable, and environmentally responsible.

Looking Ahead — The Big Dream

Nick here!

I'll be honest with you: I'm dreaming bigger. Much bigger.

The Cedar Chest I see in my heart is a destination — a place where people come not just to shop, but to feel something. Picture pulling up to a building that feels like an adventure before you even walk in. Inside: a modern farmhouse world where every corner holds something exciting to discover.

A dedicated women's fashion floor. A men's department we call The Cedar Cave. A children's section. A furniture annex. An art gallery. And yes — a café where you can sip a cappuccino while you browse.

Beyond Old Saybrook, the vision is a network of Cedar Chest locations up and down the East Coast — all connected, all carrying the same family-first spirit that started right here on the Connecticut shoreline in 1980.

But here's what I want you to understand: that future is built one visit at a time. Every time you walk through our doors, share our name with a friend, or find something you love on our floor — you are part of this story. You are part of the dream.

We believe that consignment can be more than a store. It can be a movement — toward intentional living, local connection, and a more sustainable, more beautiful way of doing business.

Come Explore, Come Belong

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a long-time supporter, we invite you to be part of what we're building.

Thank you for growing with us. The best is truly yet to come.
